"Every other sense has an organ you can focus on but touch is everywhere." In these photos I wanted to represent all the ways we are touched in our everyday lives, specifically when getting ready. A woman goes through so much just to get ready for their day to day life. This involves touching of the lips, eyes, hair and many more. The photo of the hair shows how sometimes you can even touch the same object but it will feel different depending on the state its in. "Touch is everywhere."
The base of my mask is made of wire and masking tape to hold the wire in place. I then wrapped the wire in tracing paper that had been soaked in a mix of water and gel medium. Once I wrapped the wires base and let the paper dry it was much more sturdy and I spray painted it to give it a pure white color. I molded my mask into a circle shape to represent karma. Many people know the saying "what goes around comes around" which is referring to karma. The main idea behind karma is that if you do something that hurts someone else then in the future something or someone will come and hurt you as punishment for what you have done. Karma can also go to opposite route, if you do something nice for someone then someone will do something nice for you in the future as a reward for your good deed. The cycle of karma is similar to a circle because it goes around and around continuously...
